John Norum, born February 23, 1964 in Vardø, Norway, is a guitarist known for his work with the hard rock band Europe.
He began his musical career at an early age, influenced by classic rock and blues. In 1984, he joined Europe, shortly before the band achieved international fame with their album “The Final Countdown” in 1986. Despite leaving Europe briefly in the 1980s to focus on his solo career, he returned to the band in the 2000s.
In addition to his work with Europe, Norum has released several solo albums and collaborated with other musicians on various projects. His style of guitar playing has made him one of the most admired guitarists in the European rock scene.
Possibly the first thing that comes to mind when someone mentions Europe is the keyboard melody of The Final Countdown. But in Europe, the keyboards share the spotlight with John Norum’s electric guitar. The Swedish musician has provided his virtuoso solos and powerful riffs for much of the band’s career. The Gibson Flying V Silverburst that you can see in Guitar Legends hall has accompanied Norum throughout different tours with Europe and Dokken.
