Eric Clapton, born March 30, 1945 in Ripley, England, is one of the most influential and acclaimed guitarists in the history of rock and blues. Clapton began his career in the 1960s, joining legendary bands such as The Yardbirds, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith, before going solo. His virtuosity on the guitar and his ability to fuse rock and blues earned him the nickname “Slowhand.”
Throughout his career, he has won numerous Grammy Awards and has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame three times: as a member of The Yardbirds, Cream, and as a solo artist. Some of her best-known songs include “Layla”, “Tears in Heaven”, and “Wonderful Tonight”.
Clapton has maintained a prolific career and remains an inspiration to guitarists around the world.
