Billy Gibbons, born December 16, 1949 in Houston, Texas, is an American guitarist, singer and songwriter best known for being the leader of the legendary rock band ZZ Top. From an early age, Gibbons showed a great interest in music, especially blues and rock and roll. In the mid-1960s, he formed his first band, The Moving Sidewalks, before founding ZZ Top in 1969.
Texan hat, sunglasses and a long beard. Billy Gibbons sports some of the most recognizable looks in rock history. Together with his band, ZZ Top, he has given us some of the best blues/rock songs of the last decades.
Among his extensive collection of guitars, there is one that stands out for personal reasons: the Gibson Melody Maker that you will find at Guitar Legends Hall. This was modified by Gibbons to be an exact replica of his first guitar, the one his parents gave him for Christmas when he was a child, and he used it live between 2015 and 2018.
