Guitar Legends Hall is the result of a dream, shared with my son, and born during a trip. My passion for the world of rock had led me to collect guitars from the great artists that I admire, filling my house with dozens of them. Played by the best. And now, we would like to share this collection with everyone, within the framework of an exciting, immersive and interactive experience, which allows you to experience rock history in the most surprising and innovative way.

THE GOTTIC NEIGHBORHOOD.
The building where Guitar Legends Hall is located is located in Ciutat Vella, the first district of Barcelona and the historic center of the city, which is made up of four neighborhoods: in the south, Barceloneta; in the west, the Raval; in the center, the Barri Gòtic; and in the east, Sant Pere, Santa Caterina and la Ribera.
Guitar Legends Hall is located in the Barri Gòtic, the oldest part of Ciutat Vella - and, therefore, of Barcelona -: its historical urbanization axes date back to the origins of the city, when it was founded by the Romans more than two millennia. Many of its streets and buildings have historical importance and, over the centuries, it has assumed the role of a center of political and institutional representation.

The Gothic Quarter changed drastically during the 18th and 19th centuries, especially the latter, with the increase in population and densification of the city: the old mansions gave way to irregular apartments without services, many houses were demolished to build new buildings in which The height increased disproportionately, the orchards that still persisted were eliminated to obtain more space for new poorly ventilated and illuminated rooms, many parish cemeteries were transformed into public squares, the walls that delimited the old city were demolished... All these changes demonstrated and enhanced the importance of the neighborhood, which was reaffirmed as the political and institutional center of Barcelona.
The heritage value and uniqueness of the Barri Gòtic have led it to become the most important commercial center in Barcelona and Catalonia.
PORTAFERRISA STREET
Guitar Legends Hall is located at number 16 Portaferrisa Street. The name comes from the decoration with iron and bronze keys on the door of the Barcelona wall, where this street ended more than three centuries ago.
The building occupies the entire plot on which it is located and has the full height of the ground floor plus four floors with the roof partially built.
Its façade is made up of a lower body or basement plastered and painted, with a configuration of openings with lowered arches framed in stone; Its upper body, with three plastered and painted floors, has a configuration of openings framed by recesses with respect to the plane of the frontispiece, and balconies with wrought iron.
The building was completely renovated in the 90s, maintaining the façade as a representative element. The structure and interior have been completely modified; On the ground floor, the stone arches that form the main structure of the building on this level stand out.
The history of the electric guitar is linked to the United States and its musical culture. In the first two decades of the 20th century, research began to amplify and electrify the sound of the guitar, but it was not until the 1950s, with the beginning of rock and roll, that a true revolution arrived.
A luthier named Les Paul proposes to the company he works for, Gibson, a new electrified model without an acoustic chamber. The prototype is what they call, with a sense of humor, the log, a solid body made of wood, but Gibson is not clear about its commercialization.
Fender will be ahead of them, a brand that entered the history of music when, in 1950, it put on sale the first mass-produced electric guitar without an acoustic chamber. By lowering production costs, they make it more accessible for all those young people who, after seeing their first rock and roll idols on television, wanted to enter the world of electrified sound.

It is the birth of the Fender broadcaster , which changes its name to Fender telecaster a year later to avoid legal problems with another brand of musical instruments, Gretsch. In 1954, they began to market what is surely the most famous electric guitar: the Fender Stratocaster .
Gibson began manufacturing the also well-known Gibson Les Paul in 1952.
From then on, more models and more manufacturers will add to the success of a flourishing industry. And the first great guitarists ( the guitar heroes ) will turn the electric guitar into the great star of rock bands.
